The door
Begin.
Everything I would otherwise have to ask for, in one letter — the idea, where it goes, how large, what you can spend. A receipt returns at once. The answer returns within three days, written by hand and not by machine.
What it costs
-
$150
A sitting begins here — the floor for any piece, however small the mark. Above it, work is priced by the piece, and the price is named before the needle touches skin.
-
$75
The design fee, on custom work only. It buys the drawing and the revisions it takes to be right. It is not returned, and it does not come off the tattoo — those hours happen whether or not you sit.
-
$100
A deposit holds the day — $200 for a full day or work that runs across sessions. Not returned either, but this one does come off the final price. The date is not held until it is paid.
So the smallest a custom commission can be is $225 — of which $175 is sent before the day and $50 is owed in the chair. Flash asks less: that drawing already exists, so there is no design fee, the price on the sheet is the whole price, and the deposit comes off it.
